For googles Summer of Code you are still in see my answer above.
For OOo it is never too late to sing up and participate.

A lot of stuff.

First you should be familiar with the build process of the current
X11 version. See build instructions here
<http://porting.openoffice.org/mac/build_680_X11.html>.

Since I and the other here don't know nothing about your skills it
isn't that easy to tell you were you can start and help us here. We
are currently on the run to get the last showstopper bugs squeezed
out to have Mac OS X X11 Version in sync with major plattforms
Linux, Solaris and Windows. So far there is no public Milestone for
OS X available. The current ones are quite stable but there are
changes in Apple's X11 that require new code in order to have
access the the option and alt key in combination with other keys so
that you have access to special chars.

Regarding the Cocoa Port of Mac OS X some developers meet during
Linuxtag in Karlsruhe Germany in order to get a realistic overview
of the current status quo of OOo for Mac OS X and how to get it
ported to Aqua/Quarz/Cocoa so that it is a native OS X app.

Please tell us what you're plans for Google Summer of Code are,
what skills you have etc pp. We the other Mac porters and
volunteers need this in order to make a decission which needs to be
made fast since deadline is june 14th.

Kind regards,
Eric Hoch
