Hi James,
To avoid confusion about what has been done, some informations about
OpenOffice.org2.0 launcher are necessary.
There is an ongoing project to get .dmg packages built for distribution
for MacOSX.
We had to choose between .pkg (a metapackage in fact) and .dmg. .dmg
has be choosen for 2.0 for simplicity
This is actually far to be perfect, because important fixes for language
packs have to be done , and Oliver is working on it. Corresponding issue
is <http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=56189>
for methods to build and package OpenOffice.
If OOo2.0 is correctly built (m3 sure does), everything is in
instsetoo_native, in .dmg format.
I know that Kevin
Hendricks (sp?) has an open issue for packaging both 1.1.x and 2.x, but
I cannot remember the IZ number (it is in the 30000's).
For 2.0 packaging and icons, issues are :
<http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=43000>
<http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=42998>
The late Terry
Teague was also working on a method to package OO and that work made it
into a working packaging process for OO 2.0.
Yes, we used Terry Teague Start_OOo as starting point. Of course. What I
don't know is Kevin Hendrick's part in this, and maybe we should say we
used Kevin and Terry's work.
What was modified ?
Original startXserver() is used because we have to start an Xserver :
no need to reinvent the wheel.
But the original applescript is completely modified ( Stephan Schaefer's
and Tino Rachui's work), introducing a lot of new functions like
runFondu(), getInstallPath(), getProgramPath(), fonduDone() ...etc
I recently have modified runFondu() for macosxfondu cws, using internal
fondu.
Other important changes are :
- some timings and timeout management
- permission management (because admin privilege on Panther)
- Apple's X11 keyboard problem : added -kb extension, since Apple
removed this option
- fondu inclusion, lock file.. etc
- new icon set, with high resolution icons ( see issue 43000 )
- complete new Info.plist file
- integration of the launcher in OpenOffice.org build process.
As you can see, a lot changed.
Regards,
eric bachard
