Use OS X Package Manager and let it place them into this directory. This of course will only work if OOo is in /Applications/etc but we can easily place a warning inside during installation that points the user to this fact. Take a look at how the first versions of Florian Heckls metapackage script were done. Maybe this gives you and idea on how to automate the use of Package Manager.
