[MINOR] Miscellaneous typos and corrections in documentation
This PR fixes miscellaneous typos and and corrects documentation across the
documenation.
This was initially proposed by @shanethehat, @linkthrow, @jamesward and
@IAlwaysBeCoding and based on those PRs below.
