Hi, I have volunteer privileges and try to file and confirm bugs as often as I can. One of the things I have recently found confusing with the bugs system is that a developer or whoever it is replies that something has been fixed in "SRC680/dr32 (OOo 2.0) for BIFF5 and BIFF8 (Excel 5.0+) import/export". What exactly is src680/dr32 and when should I be able to test this to make sure that it is fixed.
OK SRC680 is the branch (or master workspace) that will be used for OOo2.0 (and is currently used to produce the 1.9. developer releases. dr32 is a Child Workspace (CWS). Developers can create their own branch from the main branch, a child workspace, which they can use to develop new feature, fix issues etc. These are in a state "new" while this work is in progress. When the work is complete they mark it "ready for QA". When QA approve the changes the CWS is then marked as "nominated". the release engineers can then merge it back into the main branch, along with whichever other CWSs are ready at that time to produce a milestone (eg. SRC680m74, which will form the 1.9.74). You can keep track of the CWSs, see when they were created, what issues they address, their state and when they have been merged into the main branch using EIS, the Environmental Information System:
http://eis.services.openoffice.org/EIS2/servlet/GuestLogon
However, on some occasions, such as when Sun developers are working on StarOffice-only features (or they simply forget to set a certain flag when creating the CWS) the CWS is not visible to to OOo EIS.Unfortunately that is the case with the dr32 CWS.
Another bug said it was fixed in 680m74s1 and I guess that is different than my 1.9.74.
It might be (I'm not sure). Depending on how busy the Hamburg release engineering team is (or how difficult the build has been) they make produce more than one build per week. The second build in the week that produced milestone m74 would be m74s1 (milestone 74, step 1). I'm not quite sure how this relates to the 1.9.74.
Another issue says "fixed in CWS extras17." Can I tell from that when something will be fixed.
Yes, by searching for "extras17" in the EIS. Which also seems to only be visible inside Sun :-(
Hope this helps, and if not, then you might find more information on this at:
