The latest version is always the 1.9.xx with the highest xx. But ti
release the Beta a branch off the main development line was created to
stabilize the chosen base version (m79) for consumption by a wider
audience. This branch was meant to fix showstoppers only, taking care to
avoid risky bug fixes which might add new problems.
If there is another Beta, an upcoming m8x (oe m9x?) milestone will be
chosen as the base, but there may be a similar extra iteration to fix
showstoppers.
Which should I be using to test the latest and greatest issue?
To really test the latest and greatest, you should choose the last
1.9.8x version. But if people who are not regular testers of development
releases want to preview the upcoming release, the published Beta is
still the recommended version.
