Hi all

Ok, the silly newbie questions are beginning already, sorry! Firstly, please could someone make me able to change parts of an issue :)
rights are granted. So you should now be able to change the issues.
Please read the issue guidelines (http://qa.openoffice.org/issue_handling/index.html) and ask here at the list, if there are questinons (well, actually you are doing so ;-) )

Also, can anyone shed some light on this? I'm wondering about the version numbering. In the 'about' on my version, it says OpenOffice.org 2.0 (as a sort of heading) followed by OOo _1_.9.125. Is this one of the RC2s or not, then?
No, This is milestone 125 of the 2.0 codeline, what became the version number 1.9.125 (just to show we are "close to 2.0").
1.9.125 is Beta2 (not rc2). RC2 would identify itself as OpenOffice.org 2.0.
If you press and hold Ctrl-Key and then type S D T , you will see the build number as well. RC2 is 680m2(Build:8964) .

I'd like to install the latest version for testing, but the download filenames don't seem to tally up with the release numbers, so I don't know whether I'm about to download what I already have.

For example OOo_2.0.0rc2_051005_LinuxIntel_install.tar.gz <http://borft.student.utwente.nl:6969/file?info_hash=%CD%86%9A%A7%A3%E3n7%00%96%60FE%28%89iv%1AY%01>. Is that a date in the middle, 5 Oct 05? Am I just being a thickie and should just go by the date? Then presumably this would just be 1.9.126 or whatever, on the 'about' tab?
The file name for tha download of an RC has the build date included. You guessed rigt. This is neccesary, as an RC would become the final version, if no stoppers are found. So it actually has the same version number as the final (2.0 for the moment).

Also, should I use IZ for reporting problems with the OO website? Just a broken link at http://distribution.openoffice.org/p2p/download.html, the download link for RC2 for Linux x86 is a nice 'page not found' message.

Yes, you can use IZ for reporting website issues. Just file an issue for component website, subcomponent www. You can put the address, where the broken link has been found to the URL box.
