Hi,

currently, our web site has 3 entry points for reporting an issue:

- The "Report a Bug" link at the left hand side of e.g.
  http://www.openoffice.org/about_us/new.html, which leads
  to http://qa.openoffice.org/issue_handling/project_issues.html
  (call it (1))
- The "File issue" link at the left hand side of e.g.
  http://www.openoffice.org/servlets/StartPage, which leads to
  http://qa.openoffice.org/issue_handling/pre_submission.html
  (call it (2))
- The "New" link at the top of several IZ-generated pages (e.g. an
arbitrary query) which appears if you are logged in, and which
  leads to http://www.openoffice.org/issues/enter_bug.cgi
  (call it (3))

This, combined with the fact that especially (3) is simply a shame and
definately discourages users to use it, is ... a pity, at least.

While we can't change the "New" link or (3) directly - collab.net does
not provide a way to change those aspects of an installation -, we can
certainly address the others.

Does somebody have objections against
- changing the "Report a Bug" link to directly point to (2)
- enhancing (2) with the "quick search" facility from (1)

- linking (1) from (2)
- obsoleting (1), which doesn't contain much useful information, anyway
  :-\

?

Thanks & Ciao
Frank
