Hi James
and welcome to the team.

I have already smoketested 2.0.1rc5 for Mac OS X in the English US
release and confirmed problems found in other localized versions.
What I propose to bring to this project: There are no functionality
test cases for the Calc program other than opening an older
version/other version spreadsheet. I find that a complete functionality
test of Writer will not suffice to ensure that Calc will completely
function as it should. A series of tests should be
developed/tested/incorporated into the smoketesting that is done to
insure that no regressions (old problems coming back on a new release)
or new problems occur before a milestone/alpha/beta/release
candidate/final is posted for this function.
I agree, we need some smoketests for Calc (as well as we need for Draw,
Impress and Base). You may put your ideas to Issue 53051 .. if you like
to write some test cases you are welcome.
But two things to consider:
- many regressions are already tested by the qatesttool and if it is
possible to automate tests it should be done.
- We have tests for Calc in TCM (see
http://l10n.openoffice.org/nonav/localization/About_TCM.html) I hope, we
can come up with a solution for more open access to TCM soon.
