I hate to say it, but you probably cannot convince single developers,
since a developer usually has only limited (though noticable) freedom in
what s/he fixes/implements next (Cor was so kind to point to my
respective statements over there in DBA). But we can try to argue to
convince main contributors to OOo that usability is an issue, and that
it should throw resources (read: developers) at it.

As a side note: The "Product Concept Document" for OpenOffice.org 2.0
[1] states "Usability" as one of the "Key Drivers".
