I'm still trying to understand why you are trying to fit this
particular quart into a pint pot:-)
Well, provided I drop one of the platforms, it will all fit. Another
alternative is to put the Mac installers on the second CD, but I'm a
little reluctant to do that. Installers should be on an "Install
Disk), IMO.
But not necessarily the same disk, surely. That looks like an open-ended
commitment to an indeterminate future, given that all software gets
bigger (and sometimes better, as with OOo 2.0.3) over time.
In essence, I'm trying to produce something that can be used by
distributors, and which they can supply to anyone who asks without
having to worry about whether or not the customer's platform is
supported, so I felt that it was necessary to include as many
installation packages as would fit. Win, Lin, and Mac are essential.

Looks very much like a case for a DVD to me. It can be assumed that
anyone who distributes software will have access to a DVD reader and
from there they could easily burn CDs - if absolutely essential - for
their target users.
Have you been able to assess the number of potential OOo users that only
have a CD reader, rather than a DVD unit? It must be a relatively small
number, given that DVD has been a standard device for at least 5 years
and any machine older than that will have limited processor power and
hence difficulty in running OOo effectively.
