Hi Thomas,
1. as Andre pointed out, please post the .res file! not just parts of it.
2. after running qa/qatesttool/global/tools/getnames.bas
take a look on the result: in the TestTool application opens a second
tab page, where the result is shown, with some comments, how to handle
them;
The results needed to get copied to the correct location, that is
printed there.
so posting me personaly both result files as attachment: first.res and
getnames.bas would help to see what might be your problem.

might be a bad installation I have made.
what testscripts did you run? We tried first.bas (located in
qatesttool/framework/first) without problems on WinXP and Linux.
If possible, upload the result file somewhere and post a link.
