But is that Vista on a physical machine, or on a virtual machine under VMWare?

Installs fine on windows XP Pro (also in a virtual machine under VMWare). If
the download was corrupt, it would give the same errors under XP (and
probably 98SE as well). Anyhow, the MD5sum checks out....

Since everything works (Vista installed without problems, runs well, other
software has installed fine), hardware is unlikely to be the problem.

I may be because it is a virtual machine, which is why I'm interested in
whether anyone else has tried it using VMWare Server (as distinct from on a
physical machine).

Virtualization is leaping ahead, and I believe it will be only a matter of
time before this becomes the norm in enterprise. If OO.o won't install or run
properly on a virtual machine, we need to know *now*, so the causes can be
determined and hopefully fixed. True, at this point in time it isn't really
important, but by the time we get to 3.0......
