I don't think you realized that your message went to thousands of people around
the world, but here is what I do.
I have two (actually three but I don't test on third system) that I run tests
on. One is a Mac Power PC laptop and the other is a Mac Intel laptop (I don't
have the space for a Mac Desktop system or I would have one of those.) I run a
series of tests from the TCM site. These tests run basic functionality
expected of the AVERAGE user. Since I test the base langauge, American
English, I do not run ligusitics and localization tests, which check the
spelling and intended meanings of each menu item.
The L10N tests are setup to do just this. Thus, you will have to have
administrative access to a system for quite some time. If you can do this on a
University system, which I doubt you would have administrative access, then
please ask permission before running these tests.
Also, the Mac OS X QA team is looking for testers for additional languages.

James McKenzie
Mac OS X QA Test Lead, American English.
