Hi Testers,
We want to get a new validated and tested VCL TestTool for OOo 2.4.
Short version:
--------------
We already started with testing and integrating some CWSs for the
TestTool some time ago. (Last year...)
We now go one with a beta testing:
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/VCLTesttool_2.4
The testing will take some time, since testers are currently busy with
testing OOo 2.3;
Updates will follow...
Longer version:
---------------
Since the time got too short to introduce a new VCL TestTool for testing
OOo 2.3 we will go on now at the beginning of the OOo 2.4 tree to get
the new TestTool.
To make sure a new VCL TestTool is useable, all available tests need to
get run on all platforms and have to show the same results as the
current TestTool based on src680m50. This was already done by Hamburg
StarOffice automation team for the CWS gh13:
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Cws_gh13_vcltesttool_ooo_230
(All platforms means: All platforms tested by StarOffice Hamburg
automation team)
During that time we think we found almost all errors.
These errors were fixed in the meantime, or they are known how to deal with.
To be sure nothing got broken in the meantime we decided to do less
tests. One of the categories 1-3 will get chosen by the tester
additionaly to the category 0 from this list:
http://qa.openoffice.org/ooQAReloaded/AutomationTeamsite/ooQA-TeamAutomationTestlist.html
Current version of beta VCL TestTool 2.4 is based on SRC680m226;
If nothing bad is found, this will be declared as the reference VCL
TestTool for testing OOo 2.4.
We provide these references as reduced binaries from an OOo installation
as VCL TestTool; 20MB compressed and 60MB deflated; These are meant for
keeping a VCL TestTool on the computer. We strongly not recommend on
using the TestTool version from the OOo package that comes with every
build. We want to test OOo and not the TestTool - and thus you have to
keep some things constant to be sure the found errors are in the OOo
application and not in the TestTool! It sometimes happen, that changes
to OOo break the TestTool - some are obvious, some not.
See wiki page for the current and further state:
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/VCLTesttool_2.4
The testing will take some time, since testers are currently busy with
testing OOo 2.3;
Updates will follow...
cheers
Thorsten
