In writer, insert several frames, and link them via options->Previous link and Next link in Frame dialog. We must leave it blank to set this link. but when they are linked, only 1st frame can be edited. It seems useless. Why this?
Linked frames work like "overflows" for text which is too long to fit in the first one. Just type more text into the first frame as will fit into it and then you'll see. And therefore it makes no sense to be able to insert text in a second linked frame. It's used to have complex layouts on a page. A simple example for this behavior is multi column text as you know from newspapers which behaves just as when the columns would be linked frames.
if we select protect contents (actually there is no content to protect at this situation, because we can't input anything in it), size and position, the frame still can be deleted without warning. I think this maybe a defect. What do you think about it?
All frames behave like this. To be precise, we would need an additional protection checkbox "From deleting".
Another specification (and that is the one you probably are thinking of) could be "If just one of the protection items (content, position and/or size) is set, then the frame cannot be deleted any more. Instead, there should be warning dialog "Frame cannot be deleted because it is protected" or just "Frame is protected."
