Hi folks,
I am now releasing a technical description of QATrack 2.0:s
functionality that differs from the previous version. Please ask if
there is something that you don't understand. The description will be
updated accordingly.
I have now received Swedish, French and German translations, awaiting
the translation from the Japanese community some time next week.
A date for upgrade will be announced after the Japanese translation has
been implemented.
Hoping that no one will react strongly to any changes made in QATrack 2.0.
Take care,
Per

Improvements and changes made in QATrack Verion 2.0.
QATrack 2.0 now authenticate users against the CollabNet server. Not
registered members in QATrack receives no further priveliges than noy
logged in members. Registered members in QATrack receives the rights
associated with their QATrack account.
USERS
Each user has 0 or more languages associated with its account.
In QATrack 1.0, only administrators could view and manage user accounts.
QATrack 2.0 allows viewing of accounts sharing the same langauges as
you. The next step will be taken in QATrack 2.5 where adding your
languages to other accounts will be possible, (as well as features for
requesting additional languages/rights in the system).
Management of users will still be done by administrators, until QATrack 2.5.
One privelige has been added to the user languages - QA. This privelige
does not differ from the QAL role and will be removed in QATrack 2.5. It
was a bad idea ;)
BUILDS
In QATrack 2.0 each build will get its own page. The page displayes all
information stored about the build. The build page now has fields for
TCM Report URI and allows the user to add comments to the build in a
comment log, and adds support for IZ issues.
Each build now has an internal ID used within QATrack for easier management.
The following statuses has been added in QATrack 2.0 and may be used to
track the build after the DISTRIBUTED status:
+ PUBLISHED
+ NOTIFIED
SUBMITTING BUILDS
Providing builds was permitted to all users in QATrack 1.0. This has now
been restricted to the BPR (Build Provider) role. Other users can
provide builds for their registered langauges.
All known users which submits builds to all languages will receive the
BPR role.
In QATrack 2.0 the submit build engine has been improved, removing the
need for the *LG* code. The improved engine handles URIs with as well as
without a language present. The URI does not have to be modified.
QATrack 2.0 now checks for duplicates against the filename instead of
the URI. The check is done against already registered builds that does
not have the UNAVAILABLE status.
QATrack 2.0 also adds an improved and more detailed report when the
build submission has been completed.
LANGUAGES
QATrack 2.0 adds support for managing languages in its interface. Users
with the ADM (Administrator) role can maintain languages. All users can
view languages.
MESSAGES
QATrack 2.0 adds support for messages on its first page. Messages can be
written by users with the ADM (Administrator) role and will be used to
spread important messages to users.
LOCALIZATION
QATrack 2.0 adds support for localization and is translated in Swedish,
German, French and Japanese. The localization can be changed in the User
Preferences.
