OOo 3.0-RC1 builds in Italian have already propagated to http://na.mirror.garr.it/mirrors/openoffice/extended/3.0.0rc1/ but Italian testers report strange installation problems. Something similar was reported a few weeks ago on this list, but if I recall correctly it involved conversion to DEBs so I'm not sure it applies here.
As usual, we download and install the package, either with or without JRE. Checksums are correct. With: OOo_3.0.0rc1_20080904_LinuxIntel_install_wJRE_it.tar.gz Without: OOo_3.0.0rc1_20080904_LinuxIntel_install_it.tar.gz Then we extract the downloaded package, enter the "RPMS" dir and run (as root; first command is to silence an RPM quirk): # mkdir -p /opt/ooo300rc1-it/.rpm # rpm -ivh --dbpath /opt/ooo300rc1-it/.rpm --nodeps --prefix /opt/ooo300rc1-it *.rpm Now, this succeeds with the version without JRE, but the version with JRE gives the following error: Error: package fake-db is not relocatable Any hints?
