moin maho,
thx for the good hint,
documentation of what the students do, will be part of their
practice, as it is an important part of OOo QA work and culture ..
I'm not sure to understand. there is an Education Project already, and
instead of working together, and e.g. create a QA department or
something similar you could manage, inside the Education Project, you
created another project/thing ?
moin eric,
i suspect, you miss some information:
the mentoring of new oo qa members is part of the renewing (called qa
'reloaded') of the oo qa area and works this way over a long time ..
therefore please read:
http://qa.openoffice.org/ooQAReloaded/Docs/QA-Reloaded-HowToStart.html
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/QA_reloaded
sure we have to teach newbies in qa'ing and you can call it 'education'
in any way, but in practice it is rather something in between .. you can
also call it 'support' (hopefully i do not bug the support project at
this point :)
(does not mean, we cannot discuss, if or how it would fit/co-work etc.
in your project).
If I understand correctly, what you aim to achieve is teach
OpenOffice.org (here QA), so isn't it reinvent the wheel somewhere ?
like already written, this is long term practice in oo qa, part of sun
community work and the daily work of several experienced community
members which try to support newbies in every area .. this works for
years without an education program; what does not mean that this could
not make sense in some ways .. but from this point of view, our practice
is the 'wheel'.
.. me, and i guess a lot of other people in oo qa are not really
familiar with your education project, so maybe you can reintroduce it on
this occasion ..
Last, I wonder why there is publicity for a private school (courses
are not public, and students pay for them) on the Wiki ?
See :
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Quality_Assurance/Hitek_School
oo is free and open and there are already several commercial
participants working on and in it .. their part on oo is definetly not!
commercial .. the students will get practice in oo qa work, under
mentoring of sun professionals, and in between they will support the oo
qa with their work on issues and other smaller projects like writing
TCS, autotest etc. to improve the quality of the product.
this is part of the mentoring program which was and is for everyone free
and open
Happy New Year to all of you,
Eric Bachard
please let us stop such discussions on the welcome thread from oleg and
natalia .. like everyone else who want to support oo qa seriously, they
are more than welcome.
p.s. if there is any need for further discussion, please open a new thread.
bye chris
