Hi,
I hope I can answer your questions.

This is because of a different edit mode. When creating basic shapes,
we tried to improve the compatibility to other office programs.
So shearing of some drawing objects like "smiley, arrows..." is
disabled. We can call them basic shapes, they are having blue control
points.

And here I can repeat my above answer. Some other big office programs
are not providing functionality as "Fit to frame" and "Adjust to
contour". If we would allow this feature the import/export turn around
will have some problems. Especially for basic shapes some text features
are different to the text features provided by a simple text shapes.

Yes, if you are selecting 2 basic shapes, then you are having a group.
