Hello Marco,
welcome to the QA project!

official site in circles trying to find out how to join the "QA".

A simple entry of the two characters "qa" within the search field on
http://www.openoffice.org would have guided you indirectly to the QA
project. Anyhow thank you for sharing your experience regarding the user
experience about how not to find the QA project. I believe we need to
work on this.
There are different opportunities to volunteer:
- there are application specific QA teams (Writer, Calc/Chart, Graphics
{Impress/Draw], Database and the application framework related things)
- Automation
** UI based automation by using the VCL Testtool application
** QA of the application programming interface (API)
There's a lot of documentation to read at http://qa.openoffice.org
If you have further questions to ask then please don't hesitate to ask
within this mailing list. People asking questions always help others to
understand things.
If you're working together with the team within your native language
project (pt.openoffice.org) then you might want to help to do release
sanity checks for a localized Portuguese OpenOffice.org version. This
just happened for version 3.1.0. If you need a contact to that team then
just have a look at the archive of this mailing list eg. here:
http://qa.openoffice.org/servlets/ReadMsg?list=dev&msgNo=12015
I am Marco from Portugal in Europe and I am skilled in computer science.
I have worked on several projects in the past, mainly translating and beta
testing.
this experience might be useful for us.
PS->Thanks to Elizabeth Matthis and Christoph Noack for mentioning me the QA
Project :-)
Nice to know :)
Kind regards, Joost
