Hi,
just today Bernd Eilers added the feature to the EIS
(https://tools.services.openoffice.org/EIS2/Logon) application to
trigger the recently installed TestBots from outside the Sun Hamburg
network. You can read more about this new feature and the whole set of
tests available now in EIS in the OOo-Wiki
(http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/EIS/EISTests).
So what do the new TestBots do? These bots are preconfigured machines
that run a series of tests, the Cat0 tests, via the VCL TestTool
(http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Testtool). These tests, which
automatically test part of the functionality of OOo, run a couple of
hours and then report the test results to the QUASTe
(http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/QUASTe) application. This
setup should work-around the problem that sometimes automatic TestTool
tests work differently on the hardware here at Sun Hamburg than on other
machines.
At the moment there is the restriction that the CWS to test via the bots
must reside inside the Sun Hamburg network, so that the new EIS
functionality is only useful if e.g. you are the QA representative for a
CWS where the owner is a Sun engineer. But this is not the end of the
story. We are already pondering about how to best enable the TestBots to
test CWSs that are hosted outside the Sun network. So stay tuned...
Regards,
Jörg
P.S.: Thanks to Marc Neumann, Bernd Eilers and Helge Delfs for their
work on the new TestBots and their connection to the EIS application.
