Hello,

That is a problem of the PDF-Readers which description they choose.

PDF/A-1a is a subset of PDF version 1.4.

So this is IMO a different description for the same format

I tested it in this way:

1. Create a writer document
2. Export as PDF
3. Open it with Ocular (-> PDF v 1.4)
4. Open the same document with Evince (PDF/A-1a)

Kind regards

Mechtilde
