I pushed this one out to 0.9. I don't have time to set up a VS10 build
for this one right now. If anyone else does, please feel free to
reassign it/re-scope it and address.

I pushed this one out to 0.9, assuming it also affects documentation;
that would require more time and someone with docs experience to review
it.

I assigned these to Cliff Jansen - he entered them and supplied the
patches/code but wasn't a committer at the time. Now he is and can
decide whether or not to include them for 0.8 or rescope to 0.9.
