Rob Godfrey commented on QPID-5184:
-----------------------------------
I have committed what I think is a fix for this issue against the trunk version
of the client.
Davin, can you verify if this now works with your use case against RabbitMQ.
To get a patch of the change you can go here:
https://svn.apache.org/viewvc/qpid/trunk/qpid/java/common/src/main/java/org/apache/qpid/framing/BasicContentHeaderProperties.java?r1=1526904&r2=1526903&pathrev=1526904&view=patch
Given the AMQP specification doesn't actually say how to interpret this field,
I wouldn't say this was a "bug" in our client per se... but the change is
certainly an improvement :-)

> The client code worked with qpid-java-client-0.18 and RabbitMQ 2.8.7.
> Upgraded RabbitMQ 3.1.3. Got error. Upgraded to qpid-java-client-0.24
> generated same error.

> To get this working I patched BasicMessageProducer to default the
> _disableTimestamps = true. This doesn't fix the problem but it prevents
> timestamps and TTL getting generated in the AMQP header frame.
> Looks like a (long)0 is represented as a '' in the frame. RabbitMQ expects
> this as a string and it toLong() the string. Obviously, a empty string will
> not convert to a 0L.
