gah - I'd forgotten that the cmake pkg-config support was useless.
link_directories() is deprecated and no longer idiomatic - *_LIBRARIES is
idiomatically supposed to be the fully qualified library path returned from the
detection module.
I'll see about improving the FindProton module.
