That is a very fair criticism, and I admit I am a key culprit. I have checked in some additions to my AMQP 1.0 notes. I've also given myself a JIRA[1] to update the 'c++ broker book' doc to include some of this.
Though this is at heart a problem of developing the necessary discipline, I do think that the format and perhaps structure of the documentation could make it easier.
