While looking at QPID-5960 I found that attempting to connect to a broker with
an invalid certificate using AMQP 0-9-1, the connection attempt would wait for
30s and then fail with a timeout exception - with no information on the
underlying cause.
The same symptoms can be seen when attempting to connect using SSL to a non-SSL
port...
