I don't understand why the first patch - for adding host and port as connection
options - is necessary. You can specify host and port through the url, e.g.
qpid-send -b testqpid.com:5671.
The second attachment is not actually a patch, its a complete source file.
I believe that qpid-send and qpid-receive *can* already create SSL connections
to the broker. E.g. see qpid/cpp/src/tests/ssl_test
