Hello Qpid-Dev, [email protected], [email protected], During the Apache Qpid Java Broker 6.0.4 release Craig Russel pointed out that this name is at odds with Oracle's guidelines for third party usage of its trademarks, in particular the Java trademark [1,2].
This email is to inform interested parties of our planned course of action. * The Qpid Webpage [3] and public communication like release announcements should refer to "Apache Qpid for Java" or "Apache Qpid x.y.z for Java" when referring to a specific version. * Other places that are deemed "public" should be updated similarly. Places that need changing include but might not be limited to the documentation (docbooks), the NOTICE and DEPENDENCIES files, console output of startup scripts and the broker itself, name and description of the main Maven artifacts (not the artifactIds). These changes will be backported to the 6.0.x branch. * Internal references (e.g., code comments) will be changed incrementally going forward. If there are no concerns or objections to this we will start implementing these changes later this week so that they will be in place for the next release.
