Thanks for the detailed and prompt responses.
Your explanation where helpful in understanding your rational behind some of 
the more obscure places of the changes.
Even though there is still some uglyness in this space I feel it is in much 
better shape than before and the rest will probably require compatibility 
breakage (as you pointed out a couple of times above). A project for a future 
version.

I guess what I am trying to say is. Good work. Review complete.
