The installed test uses a different directory structure to that used in the
checked-out environment. This makes it difficult to run the tests uniformly
from both environments.
By changing the checked-out directory structure to match that in the installed
location, the installation process itself would be a lot simpler; also it would
be easy to run the tests in both locations without messing with source code (to
change the shim paths).
