Having said that it would be trivial (if irritating) to just add in a struct
name. In fact looking at the code I'd say this might be better so that you can
clearly see which type of the union you are using.
Having said that as a non-standard extension many C99 compilers support
anonymous structs anyway (I'm pretty sure that gcc and clang do using
-std=gnu99)
