Just a note (as a mentor) that committers have responsibilities towards the project.
This Apache page covers one aspect of it: http://www.apache.org/dev/new-committers-guide.html#responsibilities Another responsibility is to engage contributors to ideally allow them to grow into being a committer themselves. Part of this is committing their patches and merging pull requests in a timely manner, it's a collective responsibility to handle requests quickly so that contributors feel engaged in the project. The current set of pull requests against the github mirrors can always be seen at: https://github.com/apache/incubator-quarks/pulls https://github.com/apache/incubator-quarks-website/pulls As a committer you have the right to modify the code directly, but that also comes with the responsibility of growing the community, so please don't assume someone else will always comment on or merge a pull request, Thanks, Dan.
