I've just pushed a change that adds another little status indicator thingy in the bottom of drracket. If you see a pair of parentheses down there next to the gc icon that means that the syntax colorer's internal state isn't up to date and it is working on bringing it back in sync. Generally speaking, you shouldn't see any difference between it being on or off in drracket's performance, but if you do notice something strange and it correlates with that little icon, please do let us know.
