The issue was related to having multiple versions of jersey libs inside the
classpath.
In HDP 3.1 Hive comes with jersey-[client|common] version 2.25, while ranger
hive plugin comes with jersey-[client|common] version 1.19.
Removing jersey-client-1.19.jar and jersey-common-1.19.jar from
/usr/hdp/3.1.0.0-78/hive/lib/ranger-hive-plugin-impl/ solved the problem.
