Dear development team,

Can you explain why documentation is so bad?
Why does the documentation still reference such old versions, indicating it has
not been updated for 10 years or more?
Why is development NOT updated to cater for the fact that SOLR 8.x is EOL?
Latest versions (2.6.0 and 2.7.0) have only SOLR 8.11 as recommended.
Despite the fact that you suggest ELASTICSEARCH may be used instead of SOLR
there seems to be nothing to suggest you actually care for people to have any
option other than SOLR.
Why do ALL the Hadoop-related projects still cling desperately to JAVA 8 when
the latest iteration is 25 but everything beyond 8 has to be considered as more
effective and efficient?

The team I am in has been struggling with this software for a year, maven
builds, logging which doesn't work properly, auditing which is a black hole of
investigation. If you have ANY expectations of this project being useful to a
wider audience please take some time to look at the peripheral aspects of the
project which are of more importance.

Dear development team, these are MY questions and opinions and not those of my
employer.

Marc
