Release work started for Apache Ranger 2.9.0 (Jul 10, 2026).
Completed today:
- Last-call email sent to dev@ for changes intended for 2.9.0 before branch lock
- GPG signing setup verified (KEYS in dist/dev and dist/release)
- LICENSE / NOTICE review completed — no changes required vs 2.8.0
- Key ranger-2.9 merges completed (including RANGER-5628/RANGER-5667,
RANGER-5653)
In progress:
- Finalizing RELEASE_NOTES-2.9.0.md
Planned schedule:
- Jul 11: branch lock for ranger-2.9
- Jul 11 (evening): version bump 2.9.0-SNAPSHOT → 2.9.0
- Jul 12: RC0 build, sign, upload to dist/dev, [VOTE] email
- Jul 17: GA target
Current ranger-2.9 HEAD: 8603cbb36 (2.9.0-SNAPSHOT)
