Thanks for your reply! Initializing with an empty group did work for me. Somehow I thought I should provide the entire group member info when starting a new server so the new server can add other members to white list and accept their RPCs. So the proper way of adding a new member to an existed group should be: 1. Start the new server with an empty group. 2. Call setConf in original leader. I think the SHUTDOWN error can also be totally avoided taking this order. Thanks again for your help! Best Regards, William
