I don't think we will really be able to tackle all the
serialization/deserialization issues until we have *completed* moving
everything to interfaces. As for the unit tests, mark them ignore & todo and
add them to the issue "Cleanup TODO". We might also want to consider just
making sure the system builds until we have refactored all the models. That
task in itself is large enough.
