Thanks for mentioning my sparqlhttp project. I just want to mention that it's still active (I'm using it every day) and I'd be happy to attempt to support new users who want to try it. The main caution is that it uses the twisted library heavily, so it might not be an easy drop-in to programs that are doing networking without twisted..
