My understanding is that GigaSpaces is a commercial product, although a limited version is available for free use. See http://www.gigaspaces.com/licensing.
For that reason, I am trying to avoid importing into River any code or even ideas from Gigaspaces. Of course, Apache-compatible licensing would change all that.
