Any stress test would be suitable, provided you set up a multiple host test environment.
Sockets are hotspots in qa-refactor, in fact they are the only hotspots; useful for network hardware performance comparisons. Earlier releases of River and Jini are more likely to experience hotspots with locks, classloading and policy providers, rather than sockets.
