Matt:

I'm not aware of anything that is exactly comparable, but there are
other projects underway that overlap. I think the key thing about this
project is really going to be designing a way to manage the federated
social graph (which also implies dealing with federated identity, I
think) and then create hooks so the parts of the suite (Roller and
JavaBB in the current configuration) can consume / publish that
information. That gets to what I meant about eventually wanting to
work back around to where the Roller code and the JavaBB code aren't
really *part of* OpenQabal.

If some of the ideas I'm chewing on can be made to work, the ideal
case would be to have a way to expose social graph information
so that it can be leveraged by *any* application using a standard
protocol. So, if an enterprise wanted to wire their CRM system into
the system and take advantage of social graph information, that should
be possible. Likewise for CMS, Knowledge Management, whatever.

One thing I really need to do is sit down and write up some use-cases
to help illustrate what this is for. But I wanted to get something
started before starting to think too much about the more abstract
stuff... I'm one of those people who needs something to look at, poke,
play with, etc., in order to help me think about the larger issues.
It's like starting to implement something, even if it's wrong, forces
me to think about things in the terms that actually lead me to where
I want to go. :-)

TTYL,

Phil
