Hi Angie, It sounds like a good idea, I do have a couple of questions: 1) Would this photo gallery, requires to have the photos locally?
I think that what makes the most sense is along the lines of what Matt suggested. First, design an interface for photo galleries to plug into Roller. Second, use the Caitrin code to give a default photo gallery. It can always be unplugged if an end user doesn't want it or if they want a different piece of software.
1.5) where would they be stored?
In Caitrin, the meta data for the photos is stored in a database (MySQL currently) and the photos are stored in the file system. If you would like more detail on that just ask and I will readily give it.
2) along the same question, can people use other type of photo sharing solutions, like flickr, or picasa ?
If we design a pluggable interface, then yes. There would be nothing to stop a person (or us for that matter) from writing an interface with flickr or picasa.
2.5) for flickr, it can think an easy way to pull the pictures that the user want to include in this photo gallery is to identify the photos per tag or per set.
I'm not sure about this one....we'd have to look into it more. Regards, Angie
