I use Tomcat and MySQL too, but I don't see this behavior.
Can you provide some more detailed instructions on how to reproduce this error?

sources, on which branch are you building?
* Have you made any changes to the Roller source code?
* What Java version are you using?
* What operating system are you using?
* If applicable, what browser are you using?
