Our installation guide (lastest version in trunk is the best to go to--check our homepage menu) shows how to deploy locally on Tomcat with a standalone MySQL, Derby, or PostgreSQL database. See the 2nd paragraph of the email I just sent Gaurav: http://markmail.org/message/nxdsqdm25thm6hcw . Our test embedded DB options just erase at each start, probably not what you want.
