Hi, It's been a while since I tried it, but one of the examples is DataBindingExample_as. It is intended as an example for how to get an Application up and running without MXML. Also note that in Royale, MXML should have less overhead than in Flex and should make you more productive than straight AS, but we do want to make it possible to skip MXML if you want.
