Alternative fro AdvancedDatagridRendererProvider

Hi ,
                What is the replacement for AdvancedDatagridRendererProvider. 
We are using in our code this to determine datagrid itemrenderer's  columnIndex 
and columnSpan.
Kindly provide a sample to implement the same.
