To Whom It May Concern: I am extremely interested in the spreadsheet projects listed
on your Google Summer of Code page.
I have a strong interest in mathematics, specifically statistics and
would love the opportunity to work on developing the solver component or the statistical
data analysis tool. Both of these
projects would be extremely beneficial to the Open Office package, making it
more competitive with paid programs with similar features such as Microsoft
Excel. Additionally, I would be so
appreciative to gain the programming experience while working for one of my
favorite groups of people, the open source community. To give you a better idea of my background, I would like you
to know that I have been an avid programmer in various languages for the past
six years and have been focusing on Java for the last two. Other languages I have worked with
include C, C++, Basic, PHP, HTML, Perl, and many others. I have also been the head webmaster of my
high school’s website, www.ahschargers.com
for the past four years. During
this time I have worked with the open source program Post Nuke and made
modifications and additions in PHP to accommodate the needs of our school’s
site. In the fall, I will be
attending my first quarter at Sincerely, Brian Oppenheim |
